Mission & Strategy

Mission

At Grace Bible Church, our mission is simply to “make more and better disciples.” This mission is not something we came up with, but is merely our expression of the mission Jesus gave the church in Matthew 28:19-20 when he commissioned the church to “make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.”

Strategy

How do we make our mission a reality? At Grace Bible Church, we sum up the three-part strategy that Jesus gives us in the great commission with three simple words: belong, grow, and multiply. Jesus calls every one of his followers and churches to make more and better disciples by helping people to belong, grow, and multiply.

Belong

The first step in our Great-Commission strategy for making more and better disciples is helping people belong to a local church through belief, baptism, church membership, and gathering together both on Sunday mornings and in small groups. We aim to be a welcoming church, intentionally making room for more disciples to belong with us in our small groups and Sunday services through both personal invitation and outreach events. (Matt. 28:19b, Heb. 10:25, 1 Cor. 12:27, Col. 3:15)

Grow

Whether you have been following Jesus for 6 days or 60 years, we all have ways we need to grow as disciples. Therefore, the second step in our Great-Commission strategy is to constantly work toward spiritual growth and against thinking we have arrived. We work toward spiritual growth through sermons, Sunday morning classes, small groups, joining serving teams, and being personally discipled by others. (Matt. 28:20, Col. 1:28, Phil. 3:15, Col. 3:16a)

Multiply

Growth doesn’t stop with us; true growth will multiply by investing into others what has been invested into us. This is why the Great Commission commands each of us to be involved in multiplying disciples, small groups, and churches. We do this by depending on prayer, sharing the gospel, discipling others, training up leaders, engaging in local and global outreach, and teaching the next generation. (Matt. 28:19a, 9:37-38; 2 Tim. 2:2; Acts 1:8)
This strategy comes from the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20
Belong - baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (19b)
Grow - teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. (20)
Multiply - Go therefore and make disciples of all nations (19)
