Vision 2018

How do we make disciples at Grace Bible Church?

Upward Focused

Being a disciple begins with a pursuit of God. This pursuit
comes with the conviction that He is the greatest treasure and
pleasure in all of life. Therefore, because God is supremely
valuable we desire to know Him!

Our foundation for knowing God is keeping His Word
central. We will showcase expository preaching, develop sound
teaching, and promote personal study of Scriptures. We hold to
the sufficiency of the scriptures because only the Holy Spirit’s
work through the Word of God can transform lives. We will
proclaim a biblical gospel in every ministry. We will not shy
away from clearly articulating God’s truth on heaven, hell,
sin, judgment, repentance, and faith (Romans 1:16; Psalm 43:3;
Psalm 119:105; John 17:17; 1 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 4:12,
Mark 1:15).

Knowing God further requires God-glorifying worship. We
desire to be a church where the community of God sings, prays,
and speaks God’s Word to one another. We want to do this with
excellence, consistency, and authenticity. We desire to be a
people who fear God, whose vision of God is compelling to the
next generation, and whose worship burns brightly throughout
the week in countless acts of praise and obedience. We desire
a church whose worship speaks to the hearts of various
generations and backgrounds, where different musical styles
are cheerfully welcomed as God-given vehicles to sing the fame
and abundant goodness of God (John 4:21-24; Psalm 100).

Knowing God requires a genuine reliance in prayer. We desire a church where hearts are lifted up to God in
humility, honest confession, thanksgiving, and requests of all
kinds. We desire a church with the faith to ask God for great,
impossible things (Colossians 4:2-6; 1 John 5:14).

Inward Focused

We desire that Grace Bible Church would be a community
of growing disciples.

A growing church requires a community that loves one
another. We desire a community engaged in each other’s lives,
practicing hospitality, and using our time together to build one
another up in the Lord. We desire a church that eagerly
welcomes people regardless of their background. It is a church
that accepts and rejoices with repentant sinners, that bears
burdens with the weak, and that seeks to bring all within our
body to conformity with the image of Christ.

A growing church will become a diverse, multi-generational
community. Our goal is to produce mature disciples in every
stage of life, teaching them to please God and use their gifts to
serve Christ both within the church and in the world.

A growing church must have one-on-one discipleship.
Discipleship prepares the saints of God to do the work of the
ministry. We see a church where students and young adults are
propelled to grow, thrive, and serve by a whole-hearted love for
Jesus. We see a church that actively equips and encourages
parents to be the chief disciplers of their children.

Outward Focused

We desire a church engaged in the mission of God. This
means that every mature Christian will take active steps to Go!

We desire a church where evangelism is a way of life.
This means that believers from Grace Bible Church actively
demonstrate the love and worth of Jesus Christ by sharing
the gospel and the love of their church in every sphere of life
(Matthew 28:16).

We desire a church of sacrificial servants. We believe that
every Christian is a minister of the gospel in some capacity.
We desire Grace to be a place where believers use their gifts
in concert for the progress of the Gospel. To effectively and
efficiently accomplish all that God has called us to do, we cannot
maintain the all-too-common “20% of the people do 80% of the
work.” At Grace we strive for committed participation (Ephesians
4:16b; 2 Corinthians 6:3-11; 1 Thessalonians 2:8-9).

We desire a church committed to world missions. We see
men and women going as full-time missionaries, engaging in
short-term service, faithfully supporting missions, and fervently
praying for the growth of the Gospel around the world. We
desire strategic partnerships to plant and support churches.
